Abstract The article discusses joint principles of the integration of behavioral health care into the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. Principles include the assignment of a personal physician to every patient in PCMH, physician-directed medical practice, and the philosophy of whole person orientation. Also discussed is the coordination of care, quality and safety issues, and enhanced access to medical care.
